Exporting a document produces a .docx file that merges your document content into your organization’s letterhead template. The output inherits all heading styles, numbering, and indentation you defined in the template.
You must have at least one export template uploaded before you can export to Word. See Export templates to create one.

Export a document

You can start an export from three places:
  1. Go to My documents.
  2. Hover over a published document and click ⋯ → Export.

Choose a format and download

The Export document dialog lets you choose between two formats:
FormatDescription
Word (.docx)Applies one of your uploaded letterhead templates to the document content.
Markdown (.md)Exports plain text in Markdown format — useful for GitHub or other text-based workflows.
For a Word export:
  1. Select Word (.docx).
  2. Choose a template from the list.
  3. Click Export. The file downloads automatically.
If no templates have been uploaded, the dialog shows a link to the template upload page. Follow the link to upload a template before exporting.
Exports apply your company’s full letterhead: heading styles, paragraph formatting, numbering, and indentation all come from the template you designed. Upload multiple templates — for example, one for SOPs and one for checklists — to cover different document types.
